I was born in raised in rural upstate New York. After high school I attended the State University of New York at Buffalo, graduating in 1967 with a BA in psychology. From there I moved slightly west, to Indiana University in the Clinical Psychology program.
As part of that program I completed a one year internship at the University of Washington Hospital, loved Seattle, and moved there after completing my Ph.D. program in 1972. After work at outpatient clinics, in 1975 I began private practice and worked in that capacity until I moved to the Bay Area in 2007. I have been a Staff Psychologist at San Quentin prison since then have also worked at NMCI for 4 years now.
