Michael Yoshida, MD joined NMCI Medical Clinic, Inc., in 2016. He is Board certified in PM&R (Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation) and completed his medical training through Stanford University and the University of Virginia.
Prior to joining NMCI, he held faculty appointments at Northwestern University, the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, Medical College of Wisconsin, and Wayne State University in Michigan.
His medical degree is from Mie University, Japan, where he completed his residency and Board certification as an orthopedic surgeon. After practicing orthopedic surgery, he refocused on the holistic approach to rehabilitating physical impairments. Dr. Yoshida successfully retrained as a physiatrist, a specialist in PM&R, completing additional residencies and Board certifications in both Japan and the USA.
As a doctoral candidate, Dr. Yoshida developed a research project in Biomechanics research, specifically gait analysis. After completing his PhD, he became a Research Fellow and associated at Shriners Hospital for Children in San Francisco, an affiliate of the University of California.
A physiatrist with research experience and broad clinical expertise in both PM&R and orthopedic surgery, Dr. Yoshida brings significant medical expertise to the diagnosis and treatment of neuro-musculoskeletal conditions.
As a physiatrist, Dr. Yoshida focuses on the whole person, including patients’ internal medicine diseases. Dr. Yoshida is particularly committed to the non-surgical treatment of orthopedic conditions, such as fractures, arthritic diseases, and the management of neck and back pain. He specializes in the rehabilitative process of TKA (total knee arthroplasty), THA (total hip arthroplasty), TSA (total shoulder arthroplasty), spine surgeries, and hand surgeries. His recent interests are pain management, FRP (Functional Restoration Program), industrial medicine, ultrasound examination, ultrasound-guided nerve block, and injections of cortisone and PRP (platelet-rich plasma).
